How to Choose a Log Trailer
Trailer-only vs. a complete self-loading package
The RFR 07 ships as a bare deck so you can spec it to your work. Add an AM Machinery grapple loader and a hydraulic power unit and it becomes a self-loading machine — one person can pick, load, and haul without a second piece of equipment.
Match the loader to your logs
Shorter JMS loaders (11'–15'5") are lighter and cost less; the 17' and 19' reach further across the deck and pile. Longer reach adds loader weight, which trades against payload.
Payload math
Usable log payload = trailer rating minus tare weight minus loader weight. Decide loader reach first, then confirm the rest is the payload you need.
Towing & legal
The RFR 07 is built for the road: wired electric brakes, wired electric lights, and a 2-5/16" ball hitch. Tow it behind a properly rated truck; this class typically needs no CDL for non-commercial use — confirm your combined weight against your state's rules.
